WHY WE DO THIS

So why do we do this? By day, we are two guys in our early 30s who own a web development firm in Phoenix, Arizona.  Some days it can get quite stressful with client projects, employees, and dealing with uncooperative technology.  There is something exciting about taking a break every now and then and cracking open a case, a box, and some days just a pack of cards.  Essentially, it provides us a balance from the chaos of work.   We love collecting cards.

For me (Adam) my collecting actually began with non-sports cards.  It started with my first glance at a Garbage Pail Kid that a friend brought to school.  I was hooked -- I mowed laws, painted fences, and did anything I could so I could get my hands on GPKs.  I must say I still do have a mean collection, with all of the original series, the minis, cheap toys, etc. 

For Joe, he has collected baseball cards since he was a kid.  He has a special spot in his collection for Nolan Ryan items.  He already has a pretty nice collection.  If he does not have something, he will probably be willing to trade you for it!  As an early adult he took a break to focus on his passion for technology and writing code. 

One day when Joe and I were working in Michigan, Joe took a break to tell me about his latest collection and showed me some of the recent cards he bought.  I was sucked in, fascinated with the cards, especially the game-worn/used items.  Upon returning to Arizona, I too started collecting again, this time basketball cards, because of my love for the game.

I guess eventually it had to turn this.  Our love of the cards matched with our web development skills.  So one day while we were opening packs, we decided to buy the domain ultimatewax.com, even though we never had the time to really build anything as we were launching our business.  We didn’t have time…until now.

So along came August 10, 2008.  We sat at our conference room table, joined by Joe’s equally-fanatical cousin, John, to open two boxes of Exquisite Collection.  Our second box revealed the Lebron James 23/23 box.  We were ecstatic to say the least.  This box opening seemed to set our desire to create ultimatewax.com ablaze. 

As you can see, we have our beta of Ultimate Wax up and running.  We are going to keep adding more features and functionality.  We hope that you will see our passion and want to be part of it.  We invite you to become a member, post to the boards, use the other tools, and help out if you desire.
